Stand for Something videos July 2024
On Wednesday 10th July, the Stand for Something Public Speaking event took place within the English Department. Twelve Year 10 finalists, who had been voted through by their own classmates, bravely performed their speeches in front of the whole year group. Our fantastic judging panel included: local Labour candidate Evelyn Akoto; Mr Dowle; the Student Presidents Flo and Martha; Caleb (current Year 11 student and one of last year’s finalists) and former Head Girl, Greta Laverty, who is currently studying Politics at Liverpool University. All of the judges were incredibly impressed with the passion and skill with which the students presented their ideas. Ms Akoto spoke of how well the students had raised their voices to represent their generation. She added that the most important thing now was to continue to use those voices to shape our communities.
