St Augustine's Catholic College

Pupil Premium

At St Augustine’s Catholic College, we are committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. The Pupil Premium fund plays a vital role in helping us achieve this goal by supporting eligible students to overcome barriers to learning and realise their full potential.

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support specific groups of students. This includes:

  • Students eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or who have been eligible at any point in the past six years (Ever 6).
  • Children who are looked after or have been adopted from care.
  • Children from families serving in the armed forces.

This funding allows us to provide targeted support, ensuring that no child is left behind in their education.

How is the Pupil Premium used at St Augustine’s?

Our approach to the Pupil Premium is focused on bespoke planning and individualised support, underpinned by a culture of high expectations and aspiration for all students. We aim to:

  • Narrow the disadvantage gap by addressing inequalities.
  • Raise the attainment of students from lower-income families.
  • Provide academic, pastoral, and developmental support to meet the diverse needs of our students.

The government entrusts schools to allocate the Pupil Premium in the way that best meets allows students to access the Curriculum. At St Augustine’s, we:

  • Assess each student’s needs to determine the most effective interventions.
  • Ensure that there is no disparity amongst all students when accessing the schools diverse curriculum
  • Support access to curriculum-dependent trips, books, and educational equipment to enhance learning.

How can you access Pupil Premium support?

If you think your child may qualify for Pupil Premium funding, please contact our Finance Team at finance@st-augustines.wilts.sch.uk for a confidential discussion.

Additionally, if your child receives Free School Meals, you can request funding for items such as books, educational equipment, or contributions towards curriculum trips.

From 2025, the school will no longer accept receipts for purchases of items already bought. All requests for support must go through the Finance Department who can advise on the appropriate processes.

Our Commitment

Our ultimate aim is to ensure every student at St Augustine’s can access the opportunities they need to succeed academically, socially, and personally. By addressing the unique needs of our Pupil Premium students, we help them achieve their goals, make meaningful progress, and feel supported and happy in their learning journey.
